ANNUAL GATHERING & AGM

WHEN: 6:30 PM to 9 PM Saturday, March 6th, 2010
WHERE: Southminster Presbyterian Church, 1124 Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216

Every March the officers and directors gather for the annual business meeting, but don't let that scare you! The Alabama Scots make it fun with an informal gathering with some finger foods, hors d'oeuvres, and light refreshments, as well as a little "ceilidh" style entertainment from members of the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band. A general State of the Society address is delivered by our reigning President and new officers will be elected. All members are encouraged to attend. Highland attire is welcome!

ANNUAL SPRING PICNIC

WHEN: NEW DATE! 10 AM to 2 PM Saturday, May 8th, 2010
WHERE: Loch Douglas, The Home of Herbert and Tad Douglas, 1864 Patton Chapel Road in Hoover off Highway 31

Please come and join your fellow Alabama Scots as we come together in the Spring for our Annual Picnic. Meet and greet other society members and enjoy a relaxing potluck lunch alongside "Loch Douglas." Attendance is free to the public, but those attending are asked to please bring a covered dish. The event is kid-friendly and there will be plenty of room for your "wee'uns" to run about! There will be a loose program of entertainment from the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band. The event has a definite "ceilidh" atmosphere, with members and guests encouraged to participate in the entertainment. Highland attire is encouraged!

ANNUAL FALL PICNIC

WHEN: 10 AM to 2 PM Saturday, September 18th, 2010
WHERE: The Fishing Pavilion at Oak Mountain State Park, 200 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL 35124

The Caledonian Society celebrates the end of Summer and the coming Autumn with our Fall Picnic at the Fishing Pavilion at Oak Mountain State Park. Enjoy fellowship, a picnic lunch, and entertainment by the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band. Attendance is free to the public, but those attending are asked to please bring a covered dish. The event is kid-friendly and there will be plenty of room for your "wee'uns" to run about! Highland attire is encouraged!

ANNUAL SAINT ANDREWS BANQUET

WHEN: 6 PM to 9 PM Saturday, December 4th, 2010
WHERE: Pelham Civic Complex, 500 Amphitheater Road, Pelham, AL 35124 (tentative)

The Society's annual Feast of Saint Andrew, the Patron Saint of Scotland, featuring special entertainment by Colin Grant Adams and the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band. The evening will include a social hour, a banquet dinner, entertainment, and the customary Presentation and Address to the Haggis.

BURNS NIGHT CELEBRATION

WHEN: January, 2011 (TBD)
WHERE: Wald Park Lodge at the Vestavia Recreation Center, 1973 Merryvale Road, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216

Come join the Caledonian Society of Alabama in the 251st anniversary celebration of the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland's National Poet, featuring special entertainment by the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band. Raise a glass with fellow Alabama Scots to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, enjoy a pot-luck dinner, a participate in a Scottish-themed raffle, and reel to the skirl of the pipes. Admission is $5.00 per person plus a covered dish. This is a kid-friendly event! Bring the whole family! Children 12 years and under admitted FREE! Of course, Highland attire is always encouraged!
